MARCH 18, 2026—World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), held on March 21^st every year, is a global awareness day that has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The date for WDSD of the 21^st day of the 3^rd month was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21^st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

MARCH 18, 2026—March 21st is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This day commemorates the Sharpeville Massacre that occurred in South Africa on March 21, 1960, when 69 people were killed by police at a peaceful protest against apartheid. It is a day observed all around the world to focus attention on the issues of racism (personal and systemic), oppression, bias, white privilege, colonization, racial inequity/injustice, and truth and reconciliation. Canada was one of the first countries to support the UN initiative and launched its first annual campaign against racial discrimination in 1989.

MARCH 2, 2026—International Women's Day is celebrated around the world each year on March 8th. The day is to recognize the achievements of women and girls, to focus on gender bias and inequality, and to continue creating a more inclusive society. This year's theme is "Give to Gain."

FEBRUARY 27, 2026—The Spark Reading Guide Program and Foundations Learning & Skills Saskatchewan seeks volunteer reading guides in Regina to work one-on-one with elementary school students in Grades 2 to 4 who are reading below grade level. Our volunteer Reading Guides follow a structured program to help the students improve their reading skills in comprehension, rate and fluency.
