Orange Shirt Day/National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

SEPTEMBER 23, 2024 — The Saskatchewan Ministry of Education has proclaimed September 30, 2024, as Orange Shirt Day, and the Government of Canada has proclaimed it as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Even though schools and Division Office will be closed on Monday, September 30th, students and staff will still participate in truth and reconciliation activities throughout this week. It is also a timely starting point in the school year for sharing Indigenous ways of knowing, learning from Elders and knowledge keepers, and engaging in land-based education.

New Schools Announced!

September 10, 2024--Get ready for two new elementary schools and a new high school!

On August 6, 2024, Minister of Education Jeremy Cockrill and SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Terry Jenson gathered with Mayor Sandra Masters and representatives of Regina Public and Regina Catholic schools to announce the location and preliminary work begun on a new Harbour Landing West joint-use school. The 4.45-hectare school site is at the corner of Gordon Road and Campbell Street in southwest Regina.

Literacy Day

SEPTEMBER 6, 2024—The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed September 8th as Literacy Day in Saskatchewan. The day provides an opportunity for communities, libraries, schools and other organizations to plan activities that raise awareness about the importance of literacy. We know that literacy and learning are key to a strong Saskatchewan, including opening doors to employment, better social and health outcomes and active participation in society. The proclamation for this day was requested by the Saskatchewan Literacy Network.

2024 SVRP Recipients Announced!

JUNE 26, 2024—On behalf of the Regina Board of Education and Regina Public Schools administration, congratulations to the recipients of the 2024 Shared Values Recognition Program (SVRP) Award. Eleven Regina Public Schools employees have been chosen because they have exemplified the Shared Values: I am responsible; I want to know; I belong; and I respect.

They were nominated by someone in their school or workplace and chosen by the Selection Committee comprised of the Board of Trustees. To honour all the recipients, a reception and brief ceremony will be held in the fall of 2024.

Thank you to the 2024 SVRP recipients listed below for being leaders among your peers by demonstrating the values that form the fundamental beliefs that guide our school division.
