March 27, 2023 – The Government of Saskatchewan announced the site of a new West Harbour Landing joint-use school has been confirmed.
Minister of Education, Dustin Duncan; Mayor Sandra Masters; Regina Catholic Board of Education Chair, Shawna Weninger; and Regina Board of Education Chair Tara Molson all spoke at the March 23rd announcement. The announcement was made in front of students and the news media at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic School, which is a joint-use school with Regina Public’s Harbour Landing School.
MARCH 20, 2023 -- March 21st is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It is a day observed all around the world to focus attention on the issues of racism (personal and systemic), oppression, bias, white privilege, colonization, racial inequity/injustice, and truth and reconciliation. Canada was one of the first countries to support the UN initiative and launched its first annual campaign against racial discrimination in 1989.
An important aspect of fostering healthy and respectful relationships is embracing diversity in all its forms. We need to recognize and reject racism to create welcoming and inclusive communities.
MARCH 7, 2023 -- March is Women's History Month, and International Women's Day is celebrated around the world each year on March 8th. The month and day are to recognize the achievements of women and girls, to focus on gender bias and inequality, and to continue creating a more inclusive society.
