Transportation and Cancellations

Thanks to parents, students, and staff we are always learning!

Regina Public Schools has had to, on several occasions, cancel all student transportation because of dangerous, icy conditions on residential streets. We would like to thank all parents, students, school families and, of course, school staff for working through that inconvenience and interruption to daily routines.

We’ve heard from a number of parents, students, staff and partners about what we have done right and what we could do better. We appreciate and welcome all your comments, observations and suggestions!

A number of things to keep in mind:

Severe Weather

Severe weather is a way of life in Saskatchewan. In Regina, it gets cold in the winter. There are severe weather conditions that include snow, ice, blizzards and windchill  that we have come to expect.

Read this article about what to expect and how to provide feedback.

Going to school is also a way of life for our students and staff, regardless of the weather. Very rarely are Regina Public schools closed during a regular school day. Even in a blizzard! School buses and transportation similarly will run in most temperatures.

Happy National Child Day!

NOVEMBER 20, 2019 -- National Child Day is celebrated in Canada on November 20th every year in recognition of our country's commitment to upholding the rights of children and two historic events: the 1959 signing of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the adoption of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child in 1989.
