Staff Appreciation Week 2025

FEBRUARY 7, 2025—The Ministry of Education has officially declared February 9 to 15, 2025, as Staff Appreciation Week in Saskatchewan. This year's theme is "Heroes of Education."

Thank you, staff members of Regina Public Schools, for your caring and commitment to students and to the continuous improvement of public education in Regina. No matter your position with Regina Public Schools, we are all part of a very important job of educating students and giving them the knowledge and skills to be successful. Every day you make a vital and positive difference in the lives of students and their families. Thank you for your ongoing excellence and for being the heroes of education!

Indigenous Storytelling Month 2025

JANUARY 31, 2025— Since 2004, Library Services for Saskatchewan Aboriginal Peoples (LSSAP) has coordinated Saskatchewan Indigenous Storytelling Month. Through the month of February, storytelling events are held by libraries and their partners in communities throughout Saskatchewan.

The Regina Public Library, in partnership with Regina Public and Catholic Schools, invites teachers and their students to participate in online Indigenous storytelling sessions during February.

For the public, the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild is offering online events via Zoom during the four Wednesdays in February.

Inclusive Education Month

JANUARY 31, 2025—February is Inclusive Education Month in Canada. Inclusive Education Month seeks to highlight inclusive educational practices, provide opportunities for educators, students and families to share their experiences and to acknowledge the commitment of those who contribute to the successful inclusion of students in schools.

African-Canadian Black History Month

JANUARY 31, 2025—During the month of February, Regina Public Schools proudly recognizes African-Canadian Black History Month. It is an occasion to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of people with African heritage and their communities. This month also provides an opportunity to continue learning about the wide range of African Canadian experiences, including dealing with racism, and the vital role this community has played throughout our shared history.

The 2025 theme for African-Canadian Black History Month is "Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations."

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

JANUARY 27, 2025—The United Nations General Assembly has designated January 27th as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps and the end of the Holocaust that resulted in the murder of at least six million Jews and millions of others during the Second World War. We remember and stand against hate and discrimination.

Family Literacy Day/Week 2025

JANUARY 23, 2025—The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed January 27, 2025, as Family Literacy Day and January 25 to 31, 2025, as Family Literacy Week in Saskatchewan. The week provides opportunities for communities, libraries, schools and other organizations to plan events that raise awareness about the importance of family literacy. Parents with literacy skills support children to acquire literacy skills, contributing to strong families and strong communities.
