Thank You to the Co-Op Refinery

DECEMBER 23, 2020 -- Over the past 25 years, the Co-Op Refinery Complex (CRC) has been a Partner in Education with McDermid Community School. This long-standing partnership has led to many benefits for the students, staff and community of McDermid.

In recent years, CRC employees have been readers with McDermid students, volunteered at the school’s annual Christmas lunch, financially supported special events, collected donations of clothing and gifts, and sent countless school supplies. However, with COVID restrictions in place this year, the partners have had to consider new approaches.

Two RPS Staff Recognized

DECEMBER 22, 2020 -- Congratulations to Jessica Irvine, Core French educator with Regina Public Schools since 2008, for receiving the CSSE-SCEE Cynthia Chambers Award for her master’s thesis.

She successfully defended her thesis, Writing and Teaching Curriculum With Relationships in Our Place: A Critical Meta-Analysis of Saskatchewan Core French Curricula’s Cultural Indicators, in November 2019 and was just recognized in the University of Regina Faculty of Education news magazine, Education News, Autumn 2020 issue (pages 16-17).

Campbell Business Pivot

DECEMBER 18, 2020 -- Business students at Campbell Collegiate decided they wanted to keep the Campbell Business Club going for the 2020-21 school year so they met virtually throughout the fall to find a pivot idea.

The solution that executive club members identified is a digital magazine! This magazine is found both on Instagram and a website to showcase both Campbell student-run businesses and local Regina businesses. So far, club members have created a website, written scripts, filmed videos, contacted local businesses and created a solid following on social media. It is 100% their ideas, their initiative and their passion for business!

CUPE 3766 Demonstrates Generosity

DECEMBER 17, 2020 -- Everyone at Judge Bryant School wants to extend the most heartfelt thank you for a homegrown act of generosity.

This year, CUPE 3766 is helping out where they can. The union (which represents Special Education assistants, teacher associates and elementary school administrative assistants) provided $11,000 to chosen Regina Public schools to purchase food hampers for families in need. This money came from over 600 members who paid union dues intended for their annual Christmas party.

Board Season's Greetings

DECEMBER 11, 2020 -- The Regina Board of Education has made a video wishing all Regina Public Schools employees season’s greetings. When you have a moment, please take the time to view the heartfelt messages from our trustees.

This video is also a great opportunity for parents/caregivers, students and the public to be further introduced to the new Board members. It is worth the watch! Subtitles are included in the video for the benefit of all viewers.

Revised Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols

OCTOBER 5, 2020 -- As part of its reopening plan, Regina Public Schools developed heightened cleaning and disinfecting protocols. Following best practices and safety recommendations, the school division began to disinfect all surfaces with a product called Vital Oxide. This product, which is misted on to surfaces, kills viruses, including the coronavirus and is safe to be used around children and adults. It is non-toxic and not considered hazardous by OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 2012. More information about Vital Oxide is available here.
