Dear Regina Public Schools Families:

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation announced that they will withdraw noon-hour supervision provincewide on Thursday, February 8, 2024.  Without having an adequate number of supervisors, schools cannot safely have students in the building over the lunch hour.

The elementary school schedule on Thursday, February 8 will be as follows:

  • Regular start time until 12 noon - in class instruction
  • 12 Noon -Students must leave the school. Schools will not be open for students during the afternoon.
  • 2:00-3:25 access to teachers via email, Edsby or prearranged phone call.

The High School schedule will compress to a 5-day period (no advisory) in the morning as follows:

  • 7:35-8:25- EARLY BIRD CLASS (if currently scheduled)
  • 8:30-9:20 Period 1
  • 9:25-10:15 Period 2
  • 10:20-11:10 Period 3
  • 11:15-12:05 Period 4
  • 12:10- 1:00 Period 5
  • 1:00- Students must leave the school. Schools will not be open for students during the afternoon.
  • 2:00-3:00 access to teachers via email, Edsby or prearranged phone call.

As a result of the shortened day, end of day transportation will begin just prior to early dismissal. Specific adjusted pick up and drop off transportation times will be communicated to individual families of transported students over the next two days by email from Transportation.

Teachers and all staff will be in attendance at schools in the afternoon but will not provide in person/in class instruction. Teachers will arrange for students to have work to do in the afternoon outside of the school, and will be available by Edsby, email, and pre-arranged phone call.

School age care programs (Before and After programs) will operate, as usual, in the morning, but will be cancelled in the afternoon.

Note that all field trips, band, CRP and bus charters are cancelled.

Classes resume on Friday, February 9, 2024, following their normal schedule.
