Tara Molson

I was born and raised in Regina, here on Treaty 4 Territory, and grew up attending Regina Public schools, participating in band, athletics and many student groups over the years. I graduated from Thom Collegiate and convocated from the University of Regina.

I knew at a very young age that I wanted to work with the community, and I was lucky to get my first job working at a local summer camp, which shaped my passion for working with children, families and marginalized youth and directed me to advocacy at a young age. I am sure that this passion was listed on more than one of my school report cards!

In 2009, working with the YMCA of Regina, I was able to open a literacy and numeracy program at Albert Community School. The knowledge and support I gained from the school staff and community helped me grow and solidified my passion and commitment to supporting children and families. I built on this momentum, working to expand and operate over 20 YMCA school-based programs, as well as before school and after-school programs.

Most recently, I held the role of Senior Director of Community Programs and Childcare with YWCA Regina Inc. I had the privilege of leading a team of over 100 educators, social workers and community advocates all while being a part of an incredible leadership team supporting and advocating for women, children and families.

In 2020, I was elected as the trustee for Subdivision 6 for the Regina Board of Education. In my first term, I was elected Vice-Chair by my fellow trustees, followed by two terms as Chairperson. My election platform was, and remains, that all students deserve to feel safe and supported in school. The incredible staff in Regina Public schools work to achieve this every day despite external divisive mentality, hatred and laws put in place that harm children. Thank you to all teachers, school staff and school community councils who continue to advocate in the best interests of all children, youth and families. It is an absolute pleasure to work alongside you.
