SEPTEMBER 25, 2020 -- On the front lawn of McDermid Community School, Deputy Premier and Minister of Education Gordon Wyant announced a new joint-use public and Catholic school to serve the McDermid and Imperial school communities, as well as the Regina Catholic Schools St. Peter and St. Michael communities. The event was emceed by area-MLA Mark Docherty. Attendees included several members of the Legislative Assembly. Chairperson Katherine Gagne spoke on behalf of the Regina Board of Education, and Regina Catholic Board Bob Kowalchuk spoke on behalf of his board. Representatives of both school divisions' administrations, including Director Greg Enion and subdivision four Trustee Cindy Anderson, were also present for the event.
OCTOBER 5, 2020 -- As part of its reopening plan, Regina Public Schools developed heightened cleaning and disinfecting protocols. Following best practices and safety recommendations, the school division began to disinfect all surfaces with a product called Vital Oxide. This product, which is misted on to surfaces, kills viruses, including the coronavirus and is safe to be used around children and adults. It is non-toxic and not considered hazardous by OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 2012. More information about Vital Oxide is available here.
Sept 29, 2020 -- (updated from August 28, 2020) Regina Public Schools is implementing a three-part strategy to reduce the risk of COVID-19, as well as other viruses, including colds and flu, as students return to school and the colder fall and winter weather sets in. The strategy focuses on face masks, cleaning and increased, filtered ventilation.

SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 -- Regina Public Schools will participate in Orange Shirt Day on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.
This day recognizes the harm done to generations of children by residential schools and is an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that every child matters. Orange Shirt Day also recognizes our commitment to reconciliation, anti-racism, Treaty education and anti-bullying in general.
