Indigenous Storytelling Month 2025

JANUARY 31, 2025— Since 2004, Library Services for Saskatchewan Aboriginal Peoples (LSSAP) has coordinated Saskatchewan Indigenous Storytelling Month. Through the month of February, storytelling events are held by libraries and their partners in communities throughout Saskatchewan.

The Regina Public Library, in partnership with Regina Public and Catholic Schools, invites teachers and their students to participate in online Indigenous storytelling sessions during February.

For the public, the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild is offering online events via Zoom during the four Wednesdays in February.

January 28, 2025 -- Public Schools of Saskatchewan has aired a new radio advertisement on the Rawlco radio network (CJME/CKOM).

Public Schools of Saskatchewan, otherwise known as The Public Section of the Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) is a voice of advocacy for public school divisions in Saskatchewan. It is committed to ensuring that public school divisions across the province are of the highest quality, strongly supported by the students, parents and educational partners of Saskatchewan. The Public Section is committed to achieving a level playing field within the Saskatchewan educational environment so that issues deemed important by Public Section members are given a high priority by the SSBA Executive, government and educational partners.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

JANUARY 27, 2025—The United Nations General Assembly has designated January 27th as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps and the end of the Holocaust that resulted in the murder of at least six million Jews and millions of others during the Second World War. We remember and stand against hate and discrimination.

Family Literacy Day/Week 2025

JANUARY 23, 2025—The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed January 27, 2025, as Family Literacy Day and January 25 to 31, 2025, as Family Literacy Week in Saskatchewan. The week provides opportunities for communities, libraries, schools and other organizations to plan events that raise awareness about the importance of family literacy. Parents with literacy skills support children to acquire literacy skills, contributing to strong families and strong communities.
