JANUARY 3, 2024 — Tomorrow marks Canada's second National Ribbon Skirt Day. Parliament declared the official day after being inspired by Isabella Kulak, a member of the Cote First Nation in Saskatchewan, who faced ridicule for wearing a ribbon skirt to her rural school.
Traditionally, ribbon skirts are worn by Indigenous women, girls and gender-diverse individuals during ceremony and special community events. The skirts represent strength, pride and identity for those who wear them and are an important part of Indigenous culture.

December 8, 2023 - The 2024 Royal Road Race is on May 11 - Mother's Day weekend. Organizers of the race, the Jaleta Pacers, choice of charity from the proceeds of the 2024 Royal Road Race will be going to food insecurity in Regina Public Schools
A number of Regina community school students experience food insecurity. This affects a student’s concentration, memory, mood, and motor skills, all of which are needed for students to be successful.
School staff at some schools, such as at Arcola Community School, may start each morning with a check-in with students about anything they need to know that might impact a student's learning. This could include: “Have you eaten something? When? How was your sleep?” Students respond accordingly.
Regina School Division No. 4 of Saskatchewan serves the educational needs of more than 23,000 students in 44 public elementary schools, 8 public high schools and three faith-based, associate schools. DECEMBER 1, 2023 — AIDS Awareness Month (December), World AIDS Day (December 1st) and Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week (December 1st to 7th) continue to provide opportunities to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and its impacts; to remember, honour and celebrate those who have died of HIV/AIDS; and to support education and prevention activities that seek to counter stigma and discrimination that target people who are living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS.
According to a CBC Saskatchewan report last year, "Saskatchewan's HIV numbers remain the highest in Canada with transmission rates at more than double the national average."
