Proof of Vaccination or Test Status To Be Required

September 29, 2021 -- Regina Public Schools will soon be implementing a Vaccination Administrative Procedure that will require identification of vaccination or recent negative COVID-19 testing status.  

Regina Public Schools will require all employees, contractors, volunteers, parents and other visitors to our schools and facilities to demonstrate proof of full vaccination or recent proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Details of the requirement and when it will be implemented will soon be shared. This requirement will also apply to child care providers, contracted transportation staff, community user groups and other partners who use our facilities.

Orange Shirt Day/National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

SEPTEMBER 29, 2021 -- Every year on September 30th, people across Canada wear orange and participate in Orange Shirt Day events to acknowledge, teach and learn about the terrible, multigenerational legacy created by the residential school system in Canada. It is a time to reflect on the atrocities committed against Indigenous Peoples and to address the ongoing trauma and inequities in our society today.

September 20, 2021--On September 17, 2021, the Government of Saskatchewan implemented a Public Health Order that includes specific directives for schools that support Regina Public Schools safety protocols, including the requirement of mask use in all our schools and facilities.

The following new Government of Saskatchewan requirements help clarify and explain how your school administration will respond and communicate with parents when there is a case of COVID-19 in the school.

United for Change Award!

SEPTEMBER 20, 2021 -- Congratulations to the Regina Public and Catholic Schools Attendance Matters Committee for receiving the 2019 United for Change Award! This annual award is presented by United Way Regina to a person, organization or group who makes a positive difference in our community. The Attendance Matters Committee is dedicated to increasing attendance at schools and spreading awareness about how crucial school attendance is, especially in the early years.

Superintendents Rick Steciuk (Regina Public) and Stacey Gherasim (Regina Catholic) accepted the award on behalf of the committee at the virtual United for Change Awards luncheon on September 16, 2021, where the 2020 United for Change Award was also presented.

World Suicide Prevention Day

SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 -- World Suicide Prevention Day, observed on September 10th, is an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. Every year, nearly one million people take their own lives, and there are many more who attempt suicide.
