APRIL 30, 2025—May has been proclaimed Early Childhood Education Month in Saskatchewan. This month reminds us that positive experiences for young children continue to help them throughout their lives with quality early years programs and initiatives.

May 14th is Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day. Thank you to all of the amazing and hard-working Early Childhood Educators who teach, support and build strong relationships with children and their families! You make a positive difference in the futures of our youngest students by helping to build the foundation for a successful education and the social, emotional, cognitive and physical well-being of children.

APRIL 29, 2025—Saskatchewan has declared April 27 to May 3, 2025, as Missing Persons Week with the theme, "Coming Together for Hope." Members of the Saskatchewan Missing Persons Partnership (SMPP) focus on prevention, response and supports for families of missing people, including children and youth.

APRIL 28, 2025 — Regina Public Schools publishes a monthly newsletter that celebrates the accomplishments of students and staff; reports on significant events, programs and community involvement; and highlights the activities that demonstrate our Shared Values of respect, belonging, knowledge and responsibility.

APRIL 22, 2025—Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22^nd, seeks to highlight and promote efforts dedicated to the protection of the environment and natural resources. It is a day observed by over one billion people around the world in over 193 countries, including Canada!

This year’s theme is “Our power, Our planet,” which focuses on renewable resources.

APRIL 14, 2025—Please note that the Regina Public School Division Office will have altered hours during the spring break.

Schools will be closed from Friday, April 18th to Friday, April 25th, reopening on Monday, April 28th.

APRIL 2, 2025—World Autism Awareness Day (Acceptance Day, Appreciation Day, Celebration Day) is April 2nd. This day marks the beginning of a month-long celebration of the strengths and gifts of those with autism and to consider how those in the neuro-majority can amplify voices of those with autism and ensure neuro-friendly spaces and communities.

This year’s theme is "Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)."

MARCH 31, 2025—International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual awareness day celebrated around the world on March 31st. The day is dedicated to acknowledging the discrimination and violence experienced by people who are transgender. It also celebrates the accomplishments of transgender and gender nonconforming people while raising awareness of the work that still needs to be done to achieve transgender justice.

MARCH 31, 2025—March 31st is National Indigenous Languages Day, an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to celebrate and honour Indigenous languages in Canada. There are more than 70 Indigenous languages across 12 language families in the country. This day is an important reminder of the critical role that Indigenous languages play in preserving the history, culture and identity of Indigenous communities.

Regina Public Schools is proud to offer Cree at Albert, Coronation Park, Kitchener, Rosemont, Seven Stones and Thomson Schools, as well as at Balfour and Scott Collegiates. Michif is offered at McDermid School (and will be at the new tawâw school once opened).
