School Exemption Requests—Within Regina City Limits
Regina Public Schools believes that student learning needs are well supported in neighbourhood schools. While students are strongly encouraged to attend their neighbourhood schools, in certain limited circumstances, the assigned neighbourhood school may not meet the needs of the student and/or family. For example:
- A sibling already attends the requested school of attendance
- Your childcare provider is located in the requested school's boundary (applies to Kindergarten to Grade 6 students only)
- A required course or program is not offered at the neighbourhood school
In these and other applicable situations, a request to attend a school other than the assigned neighbourhood school may be made.
To request an exemption to attend a school other than your assigned neighbourhood school, please contact the requested school directly. Exemption requests will be reviewed by the school's administrative team based on the school's capacity level and the process outlined in Administrative Procedure 310. Schools with capacity levels of 1 or 2 may be able to accommodate students from outside their attendance boundary. Level 3 schools are at capacity and only students residing in the school's attendance boundary will be accepted.
To access the communication provided to caregivers on the updated attendance boundaries, please refer to the following linked file:

Transportation will not be provided for students attending a non-neighbourhood school.
