Mental Health Week 2023

APRIL 27, 2023—Every year since 1951, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has hosted Mental Health Week in the first full week in May. This year, CMHA Mental Health Week will be held from May 1st to 7th.

This year’s theme is “My Story.” Storytelling is a fundamental part of being human. Stories help build connections and strong communities. Storytelling, in all its forms, supports mental health and reduces stigma. This year’s Mental Health Week will amplify some of the voices and spaces within which mental health exists across Canada.

March Out Racism

MARCH 20, 2023 -- March 21st is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It is a day observed all around the world to focus attention on the issues of racism (personal and systemic), oppression, bias, white privilege, colonization, racial inequity/injustice, and truth and reconciliation. Canada was one of the first countries to support the UN initiative and launched its first annual campaign against racial discrimination in 1989.

An important aspect of fostering healthy and respectful relationships is embracing diversity in all its forms. We need to recognize and reject racism to create welcoming and inclusive communities.

Give Praise Where Its Due!

MARCH 1, 2023 -- Regina Public Schools employees and those who work or volunteer at our schools make the difference in the lives and the futures of all of our students. A smile from a child, a “Thank you” from a parent or a “Great job!” from an employer is proof of how we are contributing to the Regina community.

A true indicator of merit, however, is peer and community recognition. Fifteen years ago, the Regina Board of Education introduced the Shared Values Recognition Program. Since that time, many exceptional staff members who have most exemplified the Shared Values were recognized and honoured.
