March Out Racism

MARCH 20, 2023 -- March 21st is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It is a day observed all around the world to focus attention on the issues of racism (personal and systemic), oppression, bias, white privilege, colonization, racial inequity/injustice, and truth and reconciliation. Canada was one of the first countries to support the UN initiative and launched its first annual campaign against racial discrimination in 1989.

An important aspect of fostering healthy and respectful relationships is embracing diversity in all its forms. We need to recognize and reject racism to create welcoming and inclusive communities.

Give Praise Where Its Due!

MARCH 1, 2023 -- Regina Public Schools employees and those who work or volunteer at our schools make the difference in the lives and the futures of all of our students. A smile from a child, a “Thank you” from a parent or a “Great job!” from an employer is proof of how we are contributing to the Regina community.

A true indicator of merit, however, is peer and community recognition. Fifteen years ago, the Regina Board of Education introduced the Shared Values Recognition Program. Since that time, many exceptional staff members who have most exemplified the Shared Values were recognized and honoured.

School Resource Officer Program Review

February 27, 2023. The survey is now closed. The Boards of Education will  share results after they have been compiled and considered by the Boards.

Regina Public Schools and Regina Catholic Schools have engaged Praxis Consulting to conduct a review of the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program. The School Resource Officer Program is delivered through a partnership with the School Divisions and the Regina Police Service. The SRO Program has been running for 43 years. As with any longstanding program, periodic reviews are an important process to undertake.
